 CPH DOX* Campaign

Copenhagen Documentary Film Festival  - Poster designs and alternative event based advertising.

CPH DOX is the biggest documentary film festival in Scandinavia but the last couple of years the festival has experienced a stagnation in the numbers attending. Why? A survey showed that people thought of the festival and its visual approach was as being "excluding", "only for the super-trendy people" and the subjects of the films were: "boring, heavy or too political". Which is actually very untrue - their visual communication had just been off. The last couple of years the ambitions had grown in various directions (and the visuel campaigns too) with new avantgardistic events being added, overshadowing what the film festival ultimately should be about - films!

My own sollution was to go back to what the festival was originally about - showing excellent films - showing reality - a mosaic of reality! The campign should be simple. Telling who the sender was, containing short practical information and through a clear visual approach telling:

- What it is all about: quality documentary films and reality.
- Films that generates conversations with friends or family.
- Showcasing the diversity and large selction of films.

On top of that the campaign should use both traditional and untraditional media and events to engage the beholder in a playful manner an invite him inside.
Project:

- Concept.
- Campaign posters.
- Alternative advertising.
